interfaces arent involving fast enough
#thoughts
We’re at software 3.0 and we’re still making and designing more buttons. In 2026, chat interfaces are more productive than navigating through a new website which feels overwhelming. MCP and tool calling solved exactly this but its still not widely adopted, yet. Then there are things like this, which to me is nothing but a gemini wrapped demo tour.
This is how I use a clickety, buttony software:
- Ask Claude, “How do I trim this video on Final Cut Pro”
- Claude gives me the proper steps
- I follow those steps by clicking buttons and opening menus.
If Final Cut Pro had an MCP server:
- Ask Claude, “video.mp4, trim this video at 30s and give me the former.”
- “video_trimmed.mp4”
Do I care about the buttons to achieve my goal through this software? No. Should companies care about investing thousands of dollars in making a new trim button that does the same thing but with 10 more steps now? NOOO.
Do you see what I’m getting at? Companies will have to eventually remove all the extra fluff and instead optimize it for agent discoverability.
